White Diamond, the albino croc
White Diamond is thought to be the only albino crocodile in Europe.
And you can go see him if yo fancy a trip to the German village of Hodenhagen, at the Serengeti Safari park, until April 27. White Diamond was born in Louisiana, USA and grew up at an alligator farm in Florida, but has arrived in Germany as part of a traveling reptile show, called "Land der Reptilien". White Diamond is 14 years old right now, and he's lucky he lives in captivity, with that white-a-skin I doubt he could have sneaked up on his prey without being noticed.
So remember, if you want to see White Diamond live, visit Serengeti Safari park, until April 27, 2008.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore a see-through Stella McCartney mini to a private screening of her latest movie, Iron Man, at NYC’s Tribeca Grand Screening Room on Monday. But she managed to cover up all of her bits and pieces in all the right places.
On the "Late Show with Letterman" on Monday, Gwyneth talked a little about her daughter Apple, 3, and son Moses, 2. She shared:
“Boys and girls are very fundamentally different, aren’t they? (laughs) So there are some interesting things going on in the house. They just play so differently. She’s quiet and imaginative and very verbal. She likes to sit with her things and build houses and hotels for her dolls. My son will just come and thrash the hell out of anything she’s doing. Spencer Pratt togehter with girlfriend, Lauren Conrad's enemy Heidi Montag is to appear on The Tyra Banks Show on April 29. Spencer Pratt tells host Tyra Banks that a Lauren Conrad Jason Wahler sex tape does exist.
Spencer Pratt has refueled the long-standing feud between him and Lauren Conrad.
On Tuesday's episode of The Tyra Banks Show, he says that he is "100%" sure there was a rumored sex tape starring Conrad.
"I know for 100% fact it did exist – 1000%!" he declares.
Banks asks if Pratt had actually seen it.
"I would never watch that!" Pratt says. "I would rather throw up... but I know for a fact, and I would take a lie detector test."
Heidi Montag — who appeared alongside Pratt on the show — also claims the tape was "not a rumor. From what I have heard from confirmed sources... her ex-boyfriend was going around trying to sell it."
Banks then asks Montag, if she hadn't seen the tape, how could she be so sure it existed.
"Well, I mean, I am not sure she has it anymore... but from what I've heard..."
Montag adds, "I am not really allowed to elaborate."

World’s most dangerous bird
I know, it looks like something that came out of an ostrich-impregnated turkey, but it’s actually very dangerous.
According to the Guinness Book of Records, the Cassowaries are the world’s most dangerous birds, capable of dealing fatal blows. They are very unpredictable, aggressive creatures, especially if wounded or cornered. The Cassowary lives in the rain forests of Australia and New Guinea and are actually pretty shy animals if undisturbed, but if you get to close and it thinks you’re a threat you could receive a bone-breaking kick or get sliced by its dagger-like sharp claws. During WWII, soldiers stationed in New Guinea were warned to stay away from these birds, but some of them still became victims.
The Cassowary is also one of the most difficult animals to keep in the Zoo because of the frequent injuries suffered by Zoo keepers that look after them. I like a bird that can take care of itself, but, unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to help it very much against human cruelty and it is on the endangered species list, along with so many others…

Randi Goldklank, 40, is the Boston TV news station Channel 7 general manager. A drunken Randi Goldklank was arrested Sunday night in Boston's Logan Airport.
Channel 7 General Manager Randi Goldklank smelled of booze, assaulted a state police trooper, flirted with a police sergeant and unleashed a curse-filled tirade on troopers at Logan Airport Sunday night, screaming that she was a Boston “big shot” and “do you know who the ... I am?,” according to a shocking police report.
According to the report:
Troopers smelled a “very strong odor of an alcoholic beverage from her breath.”
Goldklank struck a trooper in the chest, breaking the glasses in his shirt pocket.
A trooper overheard Goldklank tell EMTs that she had “about three dozen drinks earlier’ and was taking Lexapro for depression.
She told a police sergeant, “you think I’m cute and I think your cute, just drive me home.”
Goldklank, 40, who is charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer, told the Herald a male passenger had inappropriately touched her on a plane shortly after it left Philadelphia Sunday night. There is no mention of her being groped in the report.
“Leave me alone, do you know who the (expletive) I am?” Goldklank screamed at the troopers who were called to the gate after Delta Air Lines called to report an unruly passenger, according to the report.
“I’ll have a news crew down here in minutes and you will lose your (expletive) jobs you (expletives),” the report said. “I’m a bigshot in Boston and I’ll have your (expletive) jobs.”
It sounds Randi Goldklank would be fired from her position soon. Link

Swedish researchers find world's oldest living tree
The world's oldest living tree on record is a nearly 10,000 year-old spruce that has been discovered in central Sweden, Umeaa University said on Thursday.
Researchers had discovered a spruce with genetic material dating back 9,550 years in the Fulu mountain in Dalarna, according to Leif Kullmann, a professor of Physical Geography at the university in northwestern Sweden.
That would mean it had taken root in roughly the year 7,542 BC.
"It was a big surprise because we thought until (now) that this kind of spruce grew much later in those regions," he said.
Scientists had previously believed the world's oldest trees were 4,000 to 5,000 year-old pine trees found in North America.
The new record-breaking tree was discovered in Dalarna in 2004 when Swedish researchers were carrying out a census of tree species in the region, Kullman said.
The tree's genetic material age had been calculated using carbon dating at a laboratory in Miami, Florida.
Spruces, which according to Kullmann offer rich insight into climate change, had long been regarded as relatively newcomers in the Swedish mountain region.
The discovery of the ancient tree had therefore led to "a big change in our way of thinking," he said.

World's First Scar-free Appendectomy
The world's first scar-free appendectomy has been successfully performed at University of San Diego Medical Centre, USA. Jeff Scholtz, a former U.S. marine, has recently secured his place in medical history, becoming the first patient in the world who had his appendix through mouth removed.
The operation, which is a major advance in the quest for scar-free surgery, was performed by doctors in San Diego, California, who used a flexible tube to thread miniature surgical instruments down the 42-year-old's throat to his stomach.
A tiny incision was then made in the stomach wall to get at the appendix - a small worm-like pouch attached to the large bowel.
The inflamed appendix was cut away, bagged and pulled back into the stomach - and out of the mouth.

Spinning Wheel?
Is the wheel above spinning? Which way is it spinning? Does it seem to change directions at will? If it does seem to spin; the movement is all in your head.
It is actually just two pictures of the same wheel flipping rapidly back and forth.
Any continuous movement in this spinning wheel is illusory. It is simply 2 different pictures of the same wheel flipping back and forth. The first picture shows the wheel at the start position. The second picture is the same wheel, but rotated 10 degrees. When we see the 2 pictures flipping back and forth we think the wheel is spinning!
You could say that the wheel rotates 10 degrees, then jumps back to 0, then rotates 10 degrees again...endlessly. Because the wheel looks like it is starting to rotate, and we "expect" the wheel to rotate, we tend to follow an illusory movement around the circle in 10 degree jumps. The wheel will "rotate" in either direction with a little concentration.

April 11, 2008—A Tokyo medical team prepares to CT-scan the world's best preserved mammoth—missing only her tail and shaggy coat.
Completed by February, the resulting 3-D images (not yet released to the public) provide the first detailed look at a prehistoric animal's insides, Russian scientists announced this week.
A hunter found 37,000-year-old "Lyuba" in Arctic Russia in May 2007 . She was later shipped to Tokyo's Jikei University School of Medicine and is now back in Russia for biopsies and detailed genetic analysis.
Researchers hope to sequence the entire mammoth genome from Lyuba and uncover ancient viruses in her tissues.
A CT scan of the baby mammoth Lyuba lights up a monitor at a Tokyo medical school. A Japanese team captured 3-D images by February 2008 of individual body parts, such as her liver and heart, though they have not yet been released to the public.
Russian biologist Alexei Tikhonov said, “Now we can see all the internal organs in their natural positions inside the body."

Jessica Gibson Is Rob Lowe and Sheryl Berkoff's Extortion Nanny?
Jessica Gibso (pictured left) is a 24-year-old nanny who had once worked for Hollywood actor Rob Lowe and his wife Sheryl Berkoff. On April 7, Rob Lowe and Sheryl Berkoff filed a suit against Jessica, accusing her of extorting US$1.5 million. Now Jessica Gibson filed a counter-suit against the Lowes, claiming the couple 'sexually harassing ' her.
In her suit, Gibson claims Lowe not only groped her, he repeatedly exposed his "flaccid p*nis" and his "erect p*nis" to her, repeatedly asked her "to touch his p*nis," repeatedly m*sturbated in front of her, showed her pornographic images on his computer, asked her to give him a massage and tell him dirty stories ... and that's just Rob!
She then says Rob's wife Sheryl walked around naked --"completely exposing herself" -- made "numerous sexually vulgar comments about male genitalia," "would talk about her sex life" with Rob and said that "she would never have a boyfriend because only a married man would want to f*** her."
Gibson says the Lowes paid her $18.00 an hour for her services. She's suing them for sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, retaliation, unpaid off-the-clock work, overtime wages and unpaid meal periods. She's asking for damages in excess of $50,000.
So who is lying? Jessica Gibson or Rob Lowe and Sheryl Berkoff?

King CobraIt seems unfairly menacing that a snake that can literally "stand up" and look a full-grown person in the eye would also be among the most venomous on the planet, but that describes the famous king cobra.
King cobras can reach 18 feet (5.5 meters) in length, making them the longest of all venomous snakes. When confronted, they can raise up to one-third of their bodies straight off the ground and still move forward to attack. They will also flare out their iconic hoods and emit a bone-chilling hiss that sounds almost like a growling dog.
Their venom is not the most potent among venomous snakes, but the amount of neurotoxin they can deliver in a single bite—up to two-tenths of a fluid ounce (seven milliliters)—is enough to kill 20 people, or even an elephant. Fortunately, king cobras are shy and will avoid humans whenever possible, but they are fiercely aggressive when cornered.
King cobras live mainly in the rain forests and plains of India, southern China, and Southeast Asia, and their coloring can vary greatly from region to region. They are comfortable in the trees, on land, and in water, feeding mainly on other snakes, venomous and nonvenomous. They will also eat lizards, eggs, and small mammals.
They are the only snakes in the world that build nests for their eggs, which they guard ferociously until the hatchlings emerge.
King cobras may be best known as the species of choice for the snake charmers of South Asia. Although cobras can hear, they are actually deaf to ambient noises, sensing ground vibrations instead. The charmer's flute entices the cobra by its shape and movement, not by the music it emits.(NGC)

This man-made saltwater lagoon has been attracting huge crowds to
the San Alfonso del Mar resort at Algarrobo, on Chile's southern coast, since it opened last month.
It is more than 1,000 yards long, covers 20 acres, had a 115ft deep end and holds 66 million gallons of water.
Yesterday the Guinness Book of Records named the vast pool beside the sea in Chile as the biggest in the world.
This one took five years to build, cost nearly £ 1billion and the annual maintenance bill will be £ 2million.
The man-made saltwater lagoon has been attracting huge crowds to the San Alfonso del Mar resort at Algarrobo, on Chile 's southern coast, since it opened last month.
Its turquoise waters are so crystal clear that you can see the bottom even in the deep end.
It dwarfs the world's second biggest pool, the Orthlieb - nicknamed the Big Splash - in Morocco , which is a mere 150 yards long and 100 yards wide. An Olympicsize pool measures some 50 yards by 25 yards.
This dinosaur pool uses a computer- controlled suction and filtration system to keep fresh seawater in permanent circulation, drawing it in from the ocean at one end and pumping it out at the other.
The sun warms the water to 26 degree Centigrade, nine degrees warmer than the adjoining sea.
Chilean biochemist Fernando Fischmann, whose Crystal Lagoons Corporation designed the pool, said advanced engineering meant his company could build 'an impressive artificial paradise' even in inhospitable areas.
As long as we have access to unlimited seawater, we can make it work, and it causes no damage to the ocean.'
