Mamma Mia! ABBA Reunites for Film Premiere
Los Angeles (E! Online) - Don't pull out the polyester and platforms just yet, folks. It was just for a movie premiere.

For the first time in 22 years, all four ex-members of ABBA appeared together at the Swedish premiere of Mamma Mia!, starring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth.
The Swedish pop/disco quartet—Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog—didn't perform, but throngs of fans went wild at the sight of all four together again in Stockholm.
They were joined on the red carpet and theater balcony by the stars of the soon-to-be released film. Mamma Mia! is a big-screen adaptation of the highly successful musical featuring ABBA's biggest hits, including "Dancing Queen," "Money, Money, Money" and "Take a Chance on Me."
The foursome shot to fame in the mid-'70s and performed together publicly for the last time in 1986. In 2000, they turned down $1 billion to reunite for a concert tour.

Though Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is based on a fictitious story
Though Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is based on a fictitious story, it has incidents from real life interwoven in the plot.
The movie, launchpad of Aamir Khan’s nephew Imran Khan , sees the graduation of Abbas Tyrewala from script and screenplay writing to direction.
Abbas, who has written the screenplay for films like Maqbool and Main Hoon Na , had a very original light-hearted romantic story set on a college campus for his directorial debut but he wanted to add realism to it. So he put in incidents from his own college days.
"I treated the film exactly as I remembered my college days…All the events are based on true incidents. Only the basic story is from the realm of fantasy," Abbas tells a news agency in an interview.
The movie’s story revolves around a group of college friends. Imran and Genelia D’Souza play two characters diametrically opposite to each other. The group also has another guy who harbours a secret crush on Genelia. And there is also a girl whose heart throbs for Imran. How love sprouts between Imran and Genelia, two unlikely people, is what the film is about.
Though the film is the launchpad of Imran, it was never intended to be this way. The film was initially meant to be produced by Jhamu Sughand. Aamir Khan came on board as producer much later, when Sughand expressed his inability to produce it. And even though Aamir decided to produce the film, he told Abbas not to treat it as the lauchpad of his nephew Imran.

1.El Colacho: the Baby-Jumping Festival (Spain)
In celebration of the Catholic festival of Corpus Christi, grown men leap over newborns, with full parental consent. Donning scary, vaguely Elvis-like costumes and wielding whips and truncheons, the men attempt to "cleanse" the babies of evil. Evidently, recklessly leaping over them is the best way to achieve this. The town has observed the strange practice (called El Colacho) since 1620, and any onlookers who seem to be in need of a quick exorcism are pulled into the event, as well -- so look normal, by God! And leave your babies with the sitter.

A tribute to the islands' Viking Past, Up Helly-Aa ("End of the Holy Days"), the fire festivals are held in Shetland annually in the middle of winter to mark the end of the yule season. The festival involves a procession of up to a thousand guizers, and culminates with the burning of a 32-ft. replica of a Viking longship. Due to the often-flamboyant costumes and the large quantity of males dressing up as females, it has earned the joke name 'Transvestite Tuesday'.

Every year, all of the province's approximately 600 monkeys are invited to eat fruits and vegetables during an annual feast held in honor of Rama, a hero of the Ramayana, who, it is said, rewarded his friend and ally, Hanuman the Monkey King, with the fiefdom of what is now Lopburi. Organizers of the annual monkey buffet use more than 3,000 kg of fruits and vegetables for the festival.

Thus, the playful throwing of the colored powders has a medicinal significance: the colors are traditionally made of Neem, Kumkum, Haldi, Bilva, and other medicinal herbs prescribed by Ayurvedic doctors.

So what happens during a cheese roll? Simple: the cheese is set to rolling, and racers zoom down the hill after the cheese. However, as the cheese can reach speeds of up to 70 mph, it rarely happens that someone catches the cheese. First to the bottom wins the cheese. Glorious.

In Orthodox countries, the week before Lent is marked with a series of celebrations, including a free-for-all boxing match in which there are no rules. In centuries past, the fight ended only when the participates were covered with blood and bereft of clothes.

Tuna fishing is now one of the town's biggest industries and Australia's largest tuna cannery is located there. The highlight of the festival is the tuna tossing competition. Ex-Olympic hammer thrower, Sean Carlin, holds the record for the longest toss at 37.23 metres set in 1998.

The International Indian Film Academy
The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) weekend is set to kick start in Bangkok on Friday, but the three top Khans of Bollywood won’t attend it.
Helmed by Amitabh Bachchan , who is the brand ambassador extraordinaire of IIFA, the event will see participation by the who’s who of Bollywood, including Akshay Kumar , Kareena Kapoor , Katrina Kaif , Priyanka Chopra and Harman Baweja and others. But conspicuous by their absence would be the three Khans – Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman.
Shahrukh Khan has stayed away from the event from the last three years because he says IIFA clashes with the summer holidays of his kids whom he has to take on vacation in June every year. But insiders believe SRK doesn’t want to play second fiddle at an event that centers on the Bachchans.
Salman Khan , who has been regular at IIFA every year, would give it a miss this year because of his other commitments like the TV show ‘Dus Ka Dum’ and the movie Main Aur Mrs Khanna . However, his ladylove Katrina Kaif will be shaking her leg with Akshay Kumar at the IIFA finale.
Aamir Khan , who hasn’t kept secret his dislike for award shows, has stuck to his principles and decided not to attend the IIFA. Aamir did not even formally apply for the nomination of his film Taare Zameen Par , which, consequently hasn’t been nominated in any IIFA category.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, stars were spotted arriving at the Thai capital for the event. Urmila Matondakar and Arshad Warsi and his wife Maria were among the first to arrive.

David Cook voted 'American Idol' winner
Yes, those were the classic words to Michael Jackson's legendary "Billie Jean" coming out of the mouth of American Idol finalist David Cook as we moved into the battle of the top 10. However, it was a version stripped bare of the original recording's mammoth bass line and glossy production. It was easily the most surprising performance of the night, and, I would expect, it generated a new appreciation for the versatility of the song "Billie Jean."
The inspiration for this Michael Jackson cover? It's a version of "Billie Jean" by Chris Cornell, former leader of grunge legends Soundgarden and currently lead vocalist for Audioslave. His take on "Billie Jean" is featured on the solo album Carry On which was released less than a year ago in June 2007. Critical comments on the Cornell cover of "Billie Jean" ranged widely from those who felt that it was a fascinating way to interpret the song to others who were much less kind. The American Idol judges were amazed and impressed by David Cook's presentation of a performance of "Billie Jean" inspired by Chris Cornell. What do you think? ICC surprised by Shah Rukh Khan statement
NEW DELHI: ICC on Monday appeared surprised at film star Shah Rukh Khan's statement that its anti-corruption unit had asked him not to be with the team on the playing field, saying that the IPL tournament was being played under BCCI's rules and regulations.
The ICC said the IPL was a domestic tournament and the game's governing body did not have any role in formulating the rules.
"The reported incident has nothing to do with the ICC as IPL is a domestic tournament which is being held under the Rules and Regulations of the BCCI," an ICC spokesman said from Dubai.
"Furthermore, the ICC Board in its meeting held in Dubai on 17-18 March had decided that IPL will introduce a code of conduct, an anti-corruption code and an anti-doping code that complies with ICC regulations," he said.
Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Riders owner Shah Rukh Khan last night expressed disappointment, claiming he had been barred by the ICC anti-corruption unit from going to the team dug out and dressing room in the remaining IPL matches.
"I like to hang around with the boys. I am very energetic. I am very disappointed that the ICC has stopped me," he said.
"I don't know the ICC rules. I'll tell only one thing. Nobody dare stop me from coming to Kolkata. I'll be here whenever my team plays a match at the Eden," Khan said.
Asked whether Shah Rukh needed an accreditation for the IPL matches, the ICC spokesman said, "Everybody needs an accreditation and these are in line with anti-corruption code. BCCI is following anti-corruption code. Now I don't know what modifications they have made to the code."
Knight Riders CEO Joy Bhattacharya played down the event and said Shah Rukh was actually stopped by security personnel for not carrying a visitors' pass.
"Look there is nothing like that. It was a gentleman from the security who stopped Shah Rukh Khan. He said Shah Rukh didn't have a valid visitor's pass...I don't think there is any controversy or issue," he said.
He said the ICC rules were to make sure that bookies didn't enter the dressing room.
"When these rules were framed, the concept of franchisee owners' domestic tournament didn't even come, the law was not framed to stop people like Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Mukesh Ambani or Vijay Mallya from walking into the dressing room," he said.
"According to even ICC regulations, there is a system of visitor's pass, the manager and team management sign it. The person can be allowed in the dressing room as long as it is signed by. So there is no way to stop Shah Rukh from entering the dressing room," Bhattacharya added.source

Kolkata Knight Riders send five players packing
New Delhi: The Kolkata IPL team has decided to release five of its contracted players — Ranadeb Bose, Sourashish Lahiri, Rohan Banerjee, Cheteshwar Pujara and Yashpal Singh by Sunday.
According to the team management, coach John Buchanan has decided that the players who have not played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) till date will be released, since they have little chance of playing in the remaining six matches.
Buchanan, it was learnt, now wants to concentrate on the 16 players who have played in the IPL.
The five contracted players, however, will not have to forfeit from their contracted amounts.
KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan has sought to downplay controversy and says the decision is good for the players. "You need to construct the team with lesser amount of people and continue with it because it's just delaying matters," he said.
Bose was taken aback when he spoke to CNN-IBN about his release. "I'm disappointed. Obviously, it came to me as a surprise because I wasn't expecting something like this. But you have got to accept what they decide."
The tall medium-pacer, who was on India's tour to England last summer, also lamented not being given enough opportunities by his Kolkata team, which is led by his Bengal teammate Sourav Ganguly.

Truly speaking, if not read Techcruch's Are You Ready For TomCruise.com? I Sure Am Ready, I would not have known Tom Cruise's official site TomCruise.com will only be launched on May 5. It's interesting to see what the scientologist will put on the site.

Strangely, doing some simple math, it seems like the site will launch slightly after 9 AM PDT on Monday. Either their clock is a little slow or typical of Cruise, he's doing something weird.
Of course, I was just talking about the timing of the site launch, not whether or not the purpose of the site would be weird.

Spencer Pratt togehter with girlfriend, Lauren Conrad's enemy Heidi Montag is to appear on The Tyra Banks Show on April 29. Spencer Pratt tells host Tyra Banks that a Lauren Conrad Jason Wahler sex tape does exist.
Spencer Pratt has refueled the long-standing feud between him and Lauren Conrad.
On Tuesday's episode of The Tyra Banks Show, he says that he is "100%" sure there was a rumored sex tape starring Conrad.
"I know for 100% fact it did exist – 1000%!" he declares.
Banks asks if Pratt had actually seen it.
"I would never watch that!" Pratt says. "I would rather throw up... but I know for a fact, and I would take a lie detector test."
Heidi Montag — who appeared alongside Pratt on the show — also claims the tape was "not a rumor. From what I have heard from confirmed sources... her ex-boyfriend was going around trying to sell it."
Banks then asks Montag, if she hadn't seen the tape, how could she be so sure it existed.
"Well, I mean, I am not sure she has it anymore... but from what I've heard..."
Montag adds, "I am not really allowed to elaborate."

A semi-nude photo of Scarlett Johansson showing the actress lying on a couch in a pair of underwear and a beaded top will be auctioned on a Allure Magazine's 'Most Alluring Bodies' charity event. The picture was photographed by celebrity photographer Annie Leibowitz.
The event which also auctions the photos of other actresses like Gisele Bundchen and Marilyn Monroe will be held on May 7 at Skylight in New York City to kick off Skin Cancer Awareness Month.

Kelly Ripa Priscilla Presley Feud: Priscilla Presley Rips Kelly Ripa on Regis and Kelly Show
The eliminated Dancing With The Stars contestant Priscilla Presley appeared on April 17 Live with Regis and Kelly Show to talk about her recent performance on the reality TV show. At one point, Priscilla Presley who was the oldest female contestant (63 years old) at DWTS might have ripped Kelly Ripa from interrupting Regis Philbin, laughing and saying "I'm sorry Regis, what did you say? Because she kinda butt in. Ha. Ha. Ha. I know this happens a lot." This feud stirred by Priscilla Presley caused Kelly Ripa to remain silent for the rest of the interview even when Regis tried to ask Kelly for some input. Link
