Natasha Richardson, the actress whose film credits include Maid In Manhattan and The Parent Trap, suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction at when she arrived on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala in New York on the night of May 6. ACTRESS Natasha Richardson stunned onlookers with a howling wardrobe malfunction at an all-star event.
The Maid in Manhattan beauty - already catching plenty of red carpet attention with a sleek new hairdo and breath-taking dress - had mouths agape when she climbed the stairs at the Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy event in New York.
As Richardson - a member of the UK's famous Redgrave acting dynasty - hitched up the split gown to avoid it catching on her heel, she revealed not only her entire leg, but her flesh-coloured thong and, er, underbelly as well.
Despite the potential for embarrassment, witnesses were mainly impressed at the 44-year-old's shapely figure and new look.
Natasha appeared to have interpreted the dress code for the 'Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy' themed event rather too literally.
Maybe her inspiration came from comic book hero Flash Gordon.
The Maid in Manhattan star clearly forgot about the waist-high slash in her gown, as she hoiked up the layered chiffon creation and unwittingly exposed a well-toned leg, and her flesh-coloured thong.
The embarrassing wardrobe malfunction appeared to go unnoticed by Natasha, who was accompanied by former Gucci creative director Tom Ford, despite the fact that much of her leg and her underwear was clearly on show.
Thankfully, 44-year Natasha has not fallen victim to the trend for 'going commando' - wearing no underwear - and her tiny thong just about spared her blushes.
